Many overweight and obese people are very healthy and many thin people are not. Overweight and obesity are not the risk factor for obesity-related diseases. They are instead a symptom of an underlying health challenge, like chronic stress, gut dysbiosis, hypothyroidism or insulin resistance. It can also indicate poor health-related behaviors, like sedentary lifestyle or poor diet quality.
